  1. If I can make a suggestion? Perhaps you could change Science-y words to something like Technology of the Week. Every week, you postulate a hypothetical future technology or invention. It can be far future, or near-future (depending on your mood) from week to week and you can use established “sci fi” ideas like Anti-gravity or come up with something creative yourself (every now and then).

If this is too much, perhaps you can shift science-y words to lean towards more futuristic ideas.

    Just my two cents.

    1. I think that’s a really cool idea, but I’m probably not enough of a futurist to do it justice. If you have a blog, or if you’re thinking of starting one, maybe this is an idea you can explore?

For me, I’ve always been interested in language and linguistics, and being able to approach science from a linguistics point of view is something I get really excited about. That’s really what Sciency Words is all about.

A lot of the time, I do end up digging into the history of science to try to understand where the words scientists currently use came from, but trust me: I’m keeping an eye out for more speculative terms as well, the kinds of terms that might enter common usage in the future.
